It provides an android.py command that lets you:ġ) Download and install an Android build environment, including creating package signing keys.Ģ) Interactively query you about the configuration of your application.ģ) Build the application and install it on your device.Ĥ) Display the logging information produced by Python as it runs. It may not be easy, but it's no longer nigh-impossible. RAPT makes building an Android app easier. Once you have a package you like, you can upload it to the Android Market, Amazon App Store (probably) or wherever. It moves us to a package-based approach, where you're expected to build a package, transfer it to your device, and test it like any other application. It also was something of an excuse for me - it was easy to get started developing, so it didn't matter if it was hard to get a package to market. This meant that the app would run in an environment that was different from how it would run when packaged. Until now, I expected people to place files on their SD card as part of the development process, and run them with the Ren'Py Launcher. RAPT marks a massive change in the way we approach developing Android-based Ren'Py games.
